New Nikon camera accessories, D40?
Should I buy a new lens or flash first?
I'm only 14, I've got limited money.
I shoot local bands, indoors, crappy lighting.
Sometimes I do promos.
I'm going to get the SB600 flash unit.
Any lens suggestions?
I would opt for the flash. Even though you might not be able to use them in all cases, you will still be able to use it with ANY lens, well, practically any lens. The flash is more versatile, and you will use it more. External flash units can light your shots in the way it looks like your are not using a flash at all. You can do a lot more with a flash than you can with a lens. That is just my opinion. I would get the flash unit.

Will any radio flash transmitter work with any flash unit?
I'm looking at buy a flash unit and a radio transmitter thing. I've found a good transmitter/slave package but it say only certain flashes are compatible to it. Is this how it works, because I was told differently.

You buy them in pairs. A transmitter and receiver. Yes as long as they are the same brand and on the same frequency, sure.

You can look up their prices easy enough.
What would keep me from paying under $50 for such a radio controlled flash sync is that the ones I buy cost much more. I am sure there is a good reason ... I have had mine for over six years and they are still working just fine.
